MLB Trade Rumors is reporting that the Texas Rangers have claimed 1B Ryan Garko of waivers from the Seattle Mariners.
Any thoughts of Mike Lowell heading to Texas, can now be squashed. Vladdy is the DH and Garko gives them depth at 1B and DH should Chris Davis not pan out to be the stud most expect him to be.
Bottom Line: Lowell is a better player than Garko, but the Rangers looked to be asking the Red Sox to pay most or all of his $12.5 million dollar contract. Garko will make around $500K.
Look like Sox fans better get used to the idea of Lowll sharing time at DH with Big Papi.
