The game started out with an utterly embarrassing performance by Oliver Perez. And that’s saying something! Perez only made it through 3.1 IP giving up 2 hits, 7 walks, and 1 HBP. He was lucky to only give up 3 ER’s.
The Mets made a nice comeback in the sixth and seventh innings to take the lead. Jason Bay had 2 hits including a severely wind-helped double to score 2 runs in the seventh.
Jenry Mejia blew the game in the eighth giving up a 2 run homer to Aaron Rowand.
David Wright had a horrendous 0 for 4 with 4 strikeouts. He capped it off by getting thrown out in the ninth for arguing a third strike call.
The Mets still win the series and the Nats are coming to town tomorrow night.
