Last night the Reds dominated the Cubs with a final score of 7-1. Johnny Cueto was the starting pitcher for the Reds, and after two ‘less than stellar’ starts, the young pitcher had the fire back that we had seen earlier in the season.
Cueto pitched for 8 innings and only allowed 6 hits, 1 Run, and struck out 8 batters. This improves his record for the season to 12-4.
Jay Bruce had recently come out of a huge hitting slump but has come back strong in recent weeks. Last night Jay rocked the Cubs with 3 home runs and 5 RBI’s. Chris Valaika also hit his first home run of his major league career.
The Reds continue to hold their ground against the Cardinals and are 4 games up on the Red Birds. They play the Cubs again tonight at Great American Ballpark, Bronson Arroyo is slated to be the starting pitcher.
